Today, Bloomage Biotech announced on its official WeChat account that the company has completed its pilot-scale conversion center in Tianjin. The center covers an area of 30,000 square meters and houses 64 pilot production lines. By utilizing advanced “modular” and “drawer-style” concepts to optimize the pilot-scale process, it is capable of handling the pilot and small-scale commercial production of various bioactive raw materials for pharmaceuticals, skincare products, and food. This makes it the largest pilot-scale conversion platform in the world.
The article highlights two innovative features of Bloomage Biotech’s pilot-scale conversion platform: “platform-based” and “flexible.”
Specifically, the “platform-based” feature provides comprehensive support for the entire synthetic biology industry chain, from “strain cultivation to end products,” enabling pilot-scale solutions for various substances and accelerating the commercialization of scientific research results. The “flexible” feature is embodied in the modular design and drawer-style flexible assembly, which allows for process switching suitable for different properties and techniques, enabling efficient conversion and production of multiple products, processes, forms, and units. This design significantly enhances equipment utilization and production efficiency while improving adaptability to meet the personalized and diverse needs of R&D.
It is reported that Bloomage Biotech started constructing the pilot-scale conversion center in 2018. The pilot conversion workshop for skincare and food-grade products was put into use in 2021, and the pharmaceutical-grade pilot conversion workshop was completed and put into use in June 2024, marking the full completion of the entire pilot-scale conversion center. The platform includes the complete process from fermentation and purification to refinement, aimed at providing efficient and reliable process support and comprehensive solutions for technology conversion.
