On April 26th, Guangdong Marubi Biotechnology Co., Ltd (Marubi) released its annual report for 2023 and its first-quarter report for 2024. In 2023, Marubi achieved revenue of 2.226 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 28.52%, and a net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company of 259 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 48.93%.
In the first quarter of 2024, Marubi Co., Ltd. achieved operating income of 661 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 38.73%, and a net profit of 111 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 40.62%.
Looking at product categories, the revenue from eye care products in Marubi was 429 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 1.48%. Revenue from skincare products was 925 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.46%.
It is worth mentioning that revenue from beauty and other products in Marubi increased significantly last year, with a year-on-year increase of 121.38%, reaching 650 million yuan in revenue. Marubi stated that the revenue growth of this category was mainly due to the over 100% growth of its PASSIONAL LOVER brand.
In terms of sales channels, Marubi recorded revenue of 1.871 billion yuan from online channels last year, a year-on-year increase of 50.40%. Revenue from offline channels was 354 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 27.17%. Marubi stated that the growth in revenue from online channels was mainly due to the company’s strong performance on platforms such as Douyin and Tmall.
Looking ahead, Marubi stated that it will continue to promote the growth of online business and the recovery of offline business in 2024. This includes fully leveraging the attributes and advantages of various platforms, optimizing content impact, and further deepening consumer recognition and identification of the brand’s emotional value.
