Coty, a renowned beauty company, has recently secured a significant beauty license deal with Italian fashion house Marni. The collaboration is set to launch a beauty line, starting with fragrances, in 2026. The licensing agreement between Coty and Marni extends well beyond 2040.
Sue Nabi, CEO of Coty, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting Marni’s strong brand recognition in the fashion industry, particularly in Asia and Europe. Nabi emphasized that this licensing agreement aligns perfectly with Coty’s strategic direction, focusing on fashion-driven licenses that have multi-category potential and resonate across key markets. Barbara Calò, CEO of Marni, described the deal as a pivotal moment for the brand, expanding its boundaries and opening up new opportunities for Marni’s affirmation.
The agreement with Marni not only strengthens Coty’s partnership with its parent company, OTB Group, but also further cements their strategic collaboration. Coty recently renewed its license with Jil Sander, another OTB Group brand. Ubaldo Minelli, CEO of OTB Group, expressed satisfaction with the partnership, stating that it allows Marni to explore new business grounds and shape its values creatively. By venturing into the world of beauty and fragrances, Marni can strengthen its luxury positioning.
Coty’s prestige portfolio already includes licenses with renowned brands such as Gucci, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, Marc Jacobs, Chloé, Davidoff, Tiffany & Co., Joop, Jil Sander, Roberto Cavalli, and Escada, among others. Jean Holtzmann, Coty’s Chief Brand Officer for prestige, highlighted the company’s focus on diversifying its portfolio and catering to different demographics. Holtzmann emphasized the unique position Marni holds in the fashion universe, often regarded as the fashion people’s fashion brand. The partnership with Marni not only reinforces Coty’s long-standing relationship with OTB but also adds a distinct and special element to their collaboration.
