Recently, The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has launched the FAERS Public Dashboard for Cosmetic Products, a new interactive tool designed to give the public real-time access to adverse event reports linked to cosmetic products. The platform allows users to search, filter, and download updated daily data on reported issues, offering greater transparency into consumer safety.
This initiative builds on the FDA’s broader modernization strategy focused on real-time reporting and radical transparency, following similar steps taken for drugs and therapeutic biologics. “Americans are rightfully demanding greater insight into the safety and regulation of the cosmetic products they use every day. This real-time dashboard is a great step in our efforts to deliver greater transparency and allow the public to help identify potential data signals,” said FDA Commissioner Marty Makary, M.D., M.P.H.
The dashboard is dedicated exclusively to cosmetic product adverse events, including those required to be submitted under the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act of 2022 (MoCRA), as well as voluntary reports from healthcare professionals, consumers, salon professionals, and others. Product categories include moisturizers, shampoos, conditioners, hair dyes, and tattoos.
