Yesterday, Zalando is stepping up its ambitions in the beauty market with the appointment of Thomas Schwulera as vice president of beauty. The Berlin-based online retailer announced the leadership change on Wednesday as part of its plan to accelerate growth in the segment, which saw double-digit expansion last year.
Schwulera will oversee Zalando’s overall beauty strategy across Europe, focusing on enhanced product curation, tech-driven personalisation, and innovative content formats to strengthen customer engagement.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Schwulera joined Zalando in September after a long tenure at L’Oréal, where he began his career in 2007. He spent about a decade at the company’s German subsidiary before moving to its Paris headquarters, and most recently served as managing director for L’Oréal Switzerland since 2021.
With his extensive experience in the global beauty industry, Schwulera is expected to play a key role in expanding Zalando’s position as a major beauty destination in Europe.
