Yesterday, Huda Beauty has announced the sale of its ownership in Kayali, the fragrance brand founded by sisters Huda and Mona Kattan in 2018. This strategic decision allows Kayali to operate as an independent entity. The founder of Kayali, Mona Kattan, is still manage the brand. She will partner with General Atlantic, a prominent global growth equity firm to lead the brand’s next phase of growth.
Kayali has quickly become a disruptive force in the fragrance industry, gaining international recognition for its innovative approach to scent layering, its dynamic social media presence, and its highly coveted gourmand fragrances. Under Mona Kattan’s creative direction, the brand has positioned itself as a leading name in the Middle Eastern fragrance market.
In a statement, Huda Kattan, founder and CEO of Huda Beauty, expressed her excitement for Kayali’s future. “This is such a pivotal moment for Kayali, and we are very excited for the next chapter of Mona and Kayali’s journey,” she said. “It’s been such an amazing experience working so closely with Mona over the years – I have loved every minute of it, and I’m also so excited to see what the future holds as Kayali continues to grow. In addition, Huda Beauty has completed the full redemption of the ownership interest previously held by TSG Consumer since 2017. This move returns Huda Beauty to full founder ownership, with Huda Kattan continuing to lead the brand independently.
