Yesterday, L’Oreal announced that it has invested in Amouage, the renowned Omani high-end fragrance house. This strategic investment marks a significant milestone for Amouage, a brand deeply rooted in Omani culture and known for its artisanal approach to perfumery.
Nicolas Hieronimus, CEO of L’Oréal said: “As we celebrate 25 years of L’Oréal’s presence in the Gulf Cooperation Council, we are truly honored to join the Amouage journey, and as the global leader in fragrances, we are eager to contribute to bringing these exquisite scents, symbolic of Arabic culture, to the whole world.”
Despite L’Oréal’s investment, Amouage will remain independent, preserving its heritage and craftsmanship while leveraging the resources and expertise of one of the world’s leading beauty companies. The Muscat-based brand has demonstrated remarkable growth, generating retail sales exceeding $260 million in 2024, a 30% year-on-year increase. Over the past four years, Amouage’s annual sales growth has consistently surpassed 20%, more than doubling its business within three years. Notably, more than 20% of its revenue stems from innovative new product launches.
Innovation remains a driving force for Amouage, with new retail expansions and sustainability initiatives shaping its future. The brand recently opened a boutique in Shanghai’s Zhangyuan, designed as a cultural bridge between Oman and China, featuring architectural elements inspired by Oman’s maritime trade history.
Amouage’s rapid global expansion has also been fueled by its strong digital presence, reaching nearly 400 million people on social media in 2024. More than 80% of its clientele is under 45 years old, underscoring its ability to captivate a younger luxury audience while maintaining its artisanal integrity.
As Amouage looks to the future, L’Oréal’s investment will provide the brand with the resources needed to accelerate its global ambitions. “With the long-term minority investment, it allows us to empower the realization of our vision,” said Marco Parsiegla, chief executive officer of Amouage. By staying true to its heritage while embracing innovation, Amouage is poised to redefine luxury perfumery on a global scale.
