Recently, according to report, SalonCentric Inc, a wholesale beauty supplier and subsidiary of L’Oréal USA, is set to close its Kentwood, Michigan warehouse this September, resulting in the layoff of 79 employees. The move comes as part of a broader company reorganization and workforce restructure, according to a July 15 WARN Act filing with the state.
The Kentwood facility, located at 4555 Danvers Drive SE, is subject to the WARN Act, which requires advance notice of plant closures and mass layoffs to be posted publicly. The closure affects a range of positions, from warehouse pickers and forklift operators to managers and supervisors. None of the impacted employees are part of a union or have bumping rights. The final separation date is expected to be around September 13, 2025.
The Kentwood warehouse, spanning nearly 125,000 square feet, is owned by Ben Sietsema of Honeycrisp Ventures, who acquired the building in 2024. The site, which dates back to 1995, was listed for lease last week.
Headquartered in St. Petersburg, Florida, SalonCentric operates 585 retail stores across 48 states, including 26 in Michigan. It supplies salon professionals with products from L’Oréal USA’s portfolio of 36 beauty brands. The company, founded in 2008, is part of L’Oréal USA.
