Parent Company of Judydoll Acquires Dermatological Skincare Brand Biophyto Genesis

Today, Joy Group officially announced that it has signed an acquisition agreement with Biophyto Genesis, a Chinese skincare brand rooted in dermatological science. Joy Group stated that this acquisition is a strategic move to expand its presence in the science-based skincare sector and marks a further step in strengthening its multi-brand, multi-category beauty portfolio.

Biophyto Genesis was founded in 2012 with a mission to provide safe and effective skincare solutions for individuals with problematic and sensitive skin. From the very beginning, Professor Li Yuanhong, a renowned dermatologist with over 20 years of clinical experience in public hospitals, has been deeply involved in leading the brand’s product development. Following the acquisition, Li Yuanhong will continue to serve as Chief Product Officer of Biophyto Genesis, leading the professional team and overseeing the entire R\&D process—from consumer insight and ingredient research to formula design, clinical validation, and product launch.

Commenting on the acquisition, Liu Xuan, Chairman and CEO of Joy Group, said:

“We are optimistic about the long-term growth potential of the science-based skincare sector that integrates medical research. This category, rooted in dermatological science and focused on addressing the real concerns of different skin types, represents an important direction in the upgrading of skincare consumption.”

He further explained:

“As the proportion of people with sensitive and problematic skin continues to rise, consumers are increasingly seeking professional, science-backed skincare solutions. We hope to harness China’s R&D capabilities and local ingredients to genuinely address the skincare concerns of Chinese consumers, and make life better through scientific care.”

Joy Group added that in the future, it will integrate its mature capabilities and extensive resources across systematic R&D and product development, consumer-centric brand building, omnichannel penetration, and refined operations. These strengths will complement Biophyto Genesis’s expertise, while also reinforcing Joy Group’s R&D capabilities in the skincare sector—working together to provide consumers with more professional and effective science-based skincare solutions.
