Private equity firm PAI Partners has reached an agreement to acquire a majority stake in Beautynova, a prominent global professional hair care platform. The acquisition will be made from Bluegem Capital Partners, though the financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed. According to the Financial Times, PAI Partners will acquire a 51% stake in Beautynova for approximately 330 million euros ($358.8 million).
Headquartered in Milan, Beautynova owns several esteemed premium brands, including Milk_Shake, Z.One Concept, Depot, and Medevita. The company specializes in the development of professional hair care products across various segments such as treatment, coloring, and styling. With a portfolio boasting over 18,000 formulas, Beautynova exports its products to more than 70 countries. Notably, 70 percent of the company’s sales are generated overseas, with a strong presence in the United States and other European markets through both professional and consumer channels.
Since being under Bluegem’s ownership, Beautynova has experienced significant growth and transformation. Sales have more than tripled, and the company has expanded its geographical reach, with a particular focus on the U.S. market, which now accounts for 18 percent of its sales. The acquisition by PAI Partners aims to further enhance Beautynova’s presence in its key markets and strengthen its brand portfolio.
Stefano Banfo, the CEO of Beautynova, expressed confidence in the company’s future under PAI’s ownership, stating that the resources and expertise provided will facilitate continued growth and excellence. Emilio Di Spiezio Sardo, a founding partner of Bluegem, shared his satisfaction with the business transformation achieved during their ownership, including international expansion, digitalization, and new product development.
