Today, as Shiseido’s “Action Plan 2025-2026,” aimed at strengthening its brand foundation, enhancing profitability, and improving operational governance to create a more resilient business model, the company is restructuring its China and Travel Retail businesses to streamline operations and improve synergy, particularly in targeting Chinese consumers.
A major aspect of this restructuring involves key leadership changes. Toshinobu Umetsu, currently serving as Corporate Executive Officer and China Region CEO, will change to Corporate Executive Officer, China & Travel Retail Region CEO on March 31, 2025.
Additionally, Philippe Lesné, the Travel Retail Region CEO, will retire on the same date. Shiseido intends to integrate its China and Travel Retail divisions to optimize costs and drive sustainable growth, ensuring a unified strategic direction across these crucial markets.
According to Shiseido, under the new operating structure, Shiseido will further reinforce its brand foundation by taking a cohesive approach to Chinese consumers while accelerating synergies in the business both with respect to growth and cost efficiency. This will allow Shiseido to respond to volatile market conditions with agility and to maximize customer-centric value creation, driving a shift toward high-quality growth to ensure profitability over the long term.
