Symrise AG has entered into a partnership with Virchow Group to establish a joint venture focused on manufacturing personal care ingredients from Symrise’s portfolio. Operating under the name Vizag Care Ingredients Private Limited, the new entity combines Virchow Group’s extensive presence and expertise in synthetic chemistry-based pharmaceutical actives manufacturing in India with Symrise’s leading portfolio of beauty ingredients.
With Symrise holding the majority stake, the joint venture is headquartered in Visakhapatnam, India, and will utilize a local chemical manufacturing site. Production is scheduled to commence in the first half of 2024, with expansion plans aimed at achieving substantial annual capacities to support Symrise’s ambitious growth targets in cosmetic ingredients. Symrise’s global sales organization will be responsible for promoting and selling the products manufactured by the joint venture.
The establishment of the Visakhapatnam facility represents a significant milestone for Symrise as it marks the company’s first chemical manufacturing site outside of Europe and the Americas. This development also signifies a crucial step forward in Symrise’s strategic goal of constructing a resilient global value chain.
By partnering with the Virchow Group, Symrise aims to enhance its position as a provider of top-tier personal care solutions. These offerings encompass a range of products such as multifunctional ingredients for product protection, high-performance actives and botanicals, and innovative UV filters.
