Amorepacific has announced the research findings on its artificial intelligence (AI)-based skin diagnostic system, ‘Dr.AMORE®.’ The related paper, titled “Development and application of artificial intelligence-based facial skin image diagnosis system: Changes in facial skin characteristics with aging in Korean women,” was published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science, a prestigious international academic journal, on the 12th.
It is stated that ‘Dr.AMORE®’ is an AI-based diagnostic system developed by deep learning based on the evaluation of skin clinical experts using facial skin images of Korean women. It enables convenient diagnosis of major skin concerns such as wrinkles, pigmentation, pores, and red spots through photographs alone. The analysis results using ‘Dr.AMORE®’ showed a high correlation with the visual assessment of skin clinical experts, leading to the conclusion that Amorepacific’s AI diagnostic system allows for precise skin diagnosis, as demonstrated through related research.Amorepacific R&I Center was able to identify the trends in skin aging among Korean women through research utilizing ‘Dr.AMORE®.’ Analyzing facial images of 120 Korean women ranging from their teens to their sixties, they found that the most significant changes in skin characteristics due to aging occur between the 20s and 30s. Particularly, they discovered that facial wrinkles and pigmentation undergo significant changes during this period, while the size of facial pores increases significantly between the teens and 20s.
CTO Seo Byung-hwi, the head of Amorepacific R&I Center, stated, “An AI-based skin image diagnostic system can provide skin condition diagnosis based on the judgment of clinical experts using only photographs. This approach enables quantitative and visual analysis of detailed skin characteristics, offering a new and useful approach in the field of skin research that requires big data analysis, such as aging.” He further expressed Amorepacific’s commitment to continue efforts in advanced research, including ‘Dr.AMORE®,’ to provide highly personalized beauty services to customers worldwide.
Amorepacific plans to apply the technology of the ‘Dr.AMORE®’ skin diagnostic system to customer services such as Laneige’s skin diagnostic service, ‘Laneige Beauty Curator.’ They aim to expand customer engagement through more accurate and personalized skin diagnosis in the future.
