Recently, South Korean cosmetics giant Amorepacific Corp. has made an announcement, revealing its entry into the Mexican beauty market with its renowned skincare brand, Laneige.
Since September 8, Laneige has been offering more than 20 products for sale on Sephora’s Mexican e-commerce platform. The brand’s expansion plan includes reaching 36 Sephora physical stores across Mexico, with the rollout scheduled to begin on September 22.
To mark its debut in Mexico, Laneige will be launching a series of promotional activities, which will include the distribution of complimentary samples to customers.
Laneige has gained global recognition for its cutting-edge skincare technology, establishing a strong presence in key markets such as Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Oceania, and North America. Notably, products like the Lip Sleeping Mask, Water Bank Blue Hyaluronic Cream, and Cream Skin have experienced remarkable sales growth, especially in the North American market.
Amorepacific sees Mexico as an ideal entry point into the Latin American beauty market due to its propensity for quickly embracing North American trends. The company believes that Laneige is perfectly positioned to meet the demands of trend-sensitive consumers in Mexico, particularly those in their 20s and 30s who prioritize premium skincare.
Amorepacific intends to deepen its collaboration with Sephora Mexico to gain deeper insights into local consumer preferences. By understanding the unique demands of Mexican consumers, the company aims to solidify its presence in the Latin American beauty and personal care market—a sector that is rapidly approaching a valuation of $45 billion.
In the second quarter, Amore Pacific recorded sales of KRW 1,030.8 billion ($777.8 million), up 0.4% year-on-year, and operating profit of KRW 1.17 billion ($$882.8 thousand), turned into profit. The North American business was up a whopping 105%.
