DR.WU Debuts at ADC 2024 with Heavyweight Anti-Aging Research

In recent years, as China’s manufacturing industry has transformed into China’s creation industry and Chinese products have transitioned into Chinese brands, domestic efficacy-based skincare brands have gradually gained recognition on the global stage, achieving worldwide influence.

From May 9th to 11th, the 13th Asia Dermatological Congress (ADC 2024) was held in Shanghai. During this international dermatology event, the Asian skincare brand DR.WU garnered significant attention.

CHAILEEDO has learned that this was DR.WU’s first appearance at ADC since its establishment. At the conference, DR.WU showcased its pivotal achievements in the field of anti-aging skincare with the publication of “Mechanisms and Evaluation of Skin Aging in Asian Populations.”

This research milestone presented a completely new approach and solution for combating skin aging based on the specific characteristics of Asian skin. It further solidified DR.WU’s leading position in the field of efficacy-based skincare and pioneered a new scientific direction for anti-aging.

DR.WU made its first appearance at ADC 2024 and is the pioneering brand that conducted research on the aging mechanisms of Asian populations.

Public records show that ADC 2024 was registered in Hong Kong on November 21, 1986, and is held every four years. It is the most extensive and representative gathering of countries in the field of Asian dermatology, with thousands of delegates from various Asian and European-American countries attending each conference.

Reportedly, ADC 2024 brought together top doctors from across Asia to share significant breakthroughs and advancements in the field of dermatology, including clinical practice, research, technology, and innovation. Numerous leading domestic and international beauty brands were invited to participate.

CHAILEEDO has learned that at the conference, DR.WU organized a special session titled “Advancing Asian Skincare in Anti-Aging.” This session attracted skincare professionals from different regions and received enthusiastic responses from the attendees.

Anti-aging has been a popular and cutting-edge focus in the global skincare product efficacy arena. According to intelligence data from CHAILEEDO, in 2023, anti-aging skincare products were highly favored in the Chinese cosmetics market, with a market size of 302.89 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year growth rate of 30.5%.

The anti-aging sector is experiencing rapid growth, but there are still niche areas where brands have not ventured. Brands that seize the opportunity can undoubtedly gain a first-mover advantage.

CHAILEEDO has learned that no skincare brand had previously conducted in-depth research specifically targeting the aging characteristics of Asian populations. Recognizing this research gap, the brand led a team of medical researchers and invited authoritative experts in the industry to delve into the subject. DR.WU is the first brand in the industry to comprehensively study the aging mechanisms of Asian populations.

During the special session on May 11th, DR.WU, in collaboration with Professor Xiang Leihong, unveiled their authoritative academic work titled “Mechanisms and Evaluation of Skin Aging in Asian Populations” and presented an industry-leading precise anti-aging solution.

At the session, Professor Xiang Leihong shared the achievements of this publication. After conducting clinical comparisons of epidermal water loss, skin thickness, dermal thickness, dermo-epidermal junction (DEJ) structure, and stratum corneum maturity in different ethnic groups, she stated, “Asian populations exhibit more pronounced sagging, looseness, and pigmentation, which occur earlier and have thinner epidermal layers. They also have a higher proportion of sensitive skin. Therefore, skincare product development for Asians requires a dual-layer approach that combines ‘efficacy’ and ‘sensitivity.'”

Staying true to their brand philosophy of integrating medicine and research, DR.WU revealed that they plan to submit this research achievement for publication in the Journal of Clinical Dermatology, hoping to further contribute to the development of the efficacy-based skincare industry.

DR.WU’s new generation of anti-aging products has emerged, combining “efficacy” and “sensitivity” in one.

As the anti-aging trend surges, a wave of hardcore new products continues to emerge, with many skincare brands frequently launching new products that combine effective ingredients, innovative techniques, and technological narratives.

According to incomplete statistics from CHAILEEDO, in 2023, there were at least 50 new anti-aging products launched in the domestic cosmetics market. European, American, Japanese, and Korean brands released new products intensively, and both new and established Chinese brands were not to be outdone. The products and pricing covered the consumption demands of the mid-to-high-end and ultra-high-end markets.

So, how does DR.WU break through the competition and provide more effective anti-aging solutions for Asian populations?

It is reported that since its establishment, DR.WU has been incorporating cutting-edge international medical technology and has accumulated over 200,000 Asian skin cases in its 46 years of clinical experience. Combining the research achievements on the efficacy of anti-aging and “Mechanisms and Evaluation of Skin Aging in Asian Populations,” the brand has explored a more effective way of anti-aging specifically for Asian skin. This is the foundation for the creation of the new generation DR.WU Super A Essence.

CHAILEEDO has learned that this is a new generation of anti-aging products launched by the brand, which scientifically solves the problem of the inability of retinol A to combine “efficacy” and “sensitivity” in clinical research and skincare product use. At ADC 2024, the DR.WU Super A Essence made a high-profile debut and garnered significant attention.

In terms of the main ingredient, the DR.WU Super A Essence utilizes a new generation of retinol A and scientifically combines it with the FDA-approved anti-aging and firming ingredient retinol A, allowing it to penetrate deep into the skin, influence skin DNA expression, promote collagen production, and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. It is hailed as the “golden standard of anti-aging.”

During the special session, Dr. Le Yunchen, the Medical Director of the DR.WU brand, delved into the innovative 3A compound layer-by-layer sustained-release technology of the new generation DR.WU Super A Essence. “Retinaldehyde takes the lead by entering the dermis and rapidly converting into retinoic acid, achieving an 11-fold anti-aging rate. Retinol A and retinyl ester work in tandem to enable the sustained release of retinoic acid, alleviating irritation and penetrating the deeper layers of the skin more gently. This stimulates the growth of pillar-type collagen, effectively reducing skin fine lines and achieving firmness and radiance.”

At the same time, Professor Wu Yan, the Chief Physician of the Department of Dermatology at Peking University First Hospital, confirmed the significant effects of the triple retinol A compound combination technology in terms of efficient penetration, firming, wrinkle reduction, sustained-release, and long-lasting anti-aging.

Notably, several authoritative experts in dermatology actively participated in the discussion on site, jointly exploring the effective and sensitive solutions of retinol A in clinical applications for Asian skin. It is reported that the new generation DR.WU Super A Essence is expected to increase efficacy while reducing skin irritation. It also addresses the cumbersome process of separate use, pushing the boundaries of anti-aging research and practice in the industry to new heights.

With excellent quality and efficacy, the new generation DR.WU Super A Essence has truly become a “hot seller upon release.” The product has made it to the top 3 in Japan’s COSME Essence Ranking and gained recognition from numerous consumers in the Asian region. CHAILEEDO has noticed that in DR.WU’s Tmall official flagship store, the Super A Essence has garnered over 10,000 additional purchases. Moreover, the product has created significant buzz on social platforms such as Little Red Book and Weibo, showcasing its formidable strength.

The collaborative creation of the entire medical research chain showcases DR.WU’s evidence-based and efficient anti-aging pioneering strength.

It is worth mentioning that adhering to the concept of collaborative medical research, DR.WU invited dermatologists and medical personnel from well-known hospitals in China to observe the efficacy and effects of the new product, ensuring the safety and effectiveness of the product and continuously strengthening its medical research capabilities.

At the ADC 2024 event, DR.WU distributed the new generation Super A Essence to dermatologists and consumers present at the exhibition, and on Nurses’ Day 2024, DR.WU invited hundreds of night shift medical personnel to participate in the trial and experience of the Super A Essence in Shanghai and Guangzhou. This gesture aimed to show care for night shift medical workers while actively listening to the feedback and usage experiences of dermatology professionals. Through self-testing by over a hundred dermatology medical personnel, it has been confirmed that the new generation DR.WU Super A Essence has an improving effect on the dullness and dehydration caused by staying up late.

DR.WU can be said to have carried the “collaborative medical research” gene from the very beginning and has truly implemented the concept of “collaborative medical research” throughout the entire chain.

Looking back at the brand’s history, Professor Wu Yung-Chin, the brand’s founder and a professional dermatologist, pioneered the application of dermatology in skincare. He has consistently adhered to the brand philosophy of “physician research, high efficacy, and low sensitivity,” starting from the actual problems of Asian skin, insisting on physician-led research, not adding sensitizing ingredients, and validating product efficacy through clinical results. As Professor Wu Yung-Chin said, “Efficiency and sensitivity seem like two contradictory extremes. Only through continuous research can we create highly effective skincare products that even sensitive skin can use with peace of mind.”

At the products, DR.WU has always been committed to providing tailored solutions for different skin concerns. From the flagship Mandelic Acid Essence series to the new generation Super A Essence, the brand consistently demonstrates the professional efficacy of its products and showcases its deep medical research foundation.

The release of the groundbreaking publication “Mechanisms and Evaluation of Skin Aging in Asian Populations” and the debut of the new generation Super A Essence undoubtedly propel DR.WU, the leading brand in Asian dermatological skincare efficacy, to new heights in the anti-aging industry.
