On December 20, German cosmetics group Douglas, the parent company of Nocibé, a selective perfume retailer, has reported a significant increase in sales for its 2022/23 financial year. The company achieved sales of €4.1 billion ($4.5 billion), marking a 12.1% growth compared to the previous year.
During the same period, the Group’s EBIDTA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization) increased by 22.3% to €725.9 million ($794.7 million). Notably, Nocibé returned to profitability, recording a net profit of €16.7 million ($18.3 million) after incurring a loss of €313.8 million ($343.5 million) in the previous year due to the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Sales within the shop network experienced a robust growth of 13%, totaling €2.7 billion ($2.96 billion). Online sales also contributed to the company’s success, growing by 10.3% to reach €1.3 billion ($1.42 billion).
In terms of regional performance, sales in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and the Netherlands reached €1.8 billion ($1.97 billion), reflecting a significant increase of 14.2%. Nocibé shops in France achieved sales of €813 million ($890 million), showing a growth rate of 4.1%.
Southern Europe witnessed a sales jump of 5.8%, reaching €622 million ($681 million). Central and Eastern Europe, a region of high growth for Douglas, including countries like Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, and Romania, experienced an impressive sales increase of 25.9% to reach €556.4 million ($609.1 million).
Douglas, under the management of Sander van der Laan for the past year, is currently considering a potential listing on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. The company operates a total of 1,840 shops across Europe. The positive sales growth and return to profitability indicate a strong performance for Douglas in the 2022/23 financial year.
