Having previously contributed to establishing the research and development team at Proya, what kind of empowerment will Jiang Ligan bring to Pechoin after joining?
Jiang Ligan previously worked at Proya for 14 years, holding the position of Chief Research and Development Officer.
Public information reveals that Jiang Ligan graduated from Zhejiang University with a major in Polymer Chemistry. He worked at Mary Kay and Estée Lauder for nearly 10 years before joining Proya, a recently established company, in 2008. He remained with Proya until August 2022, accumulating a remarkable tenure of 14 years.
Upon joining Proya, Jiang Ligan began assisting the company in recruiting talents and establishing a 9-member research and development team covering skincare and makeup. He also procured a significant amount of research and development equipment, laying the foundation for Proya’s Research and Innovation Center. Subsequently, through the establishment of standardized systems, talent acquisition and development, equipment upgrades, and other construction efforts, Proya’s research and development capabilities steadily improved. The company developed strong independent research and development capabilities and invested in fundamental research. Jiang Ligan made significant contributions to the establishment of Proya’s research and development team.
It is worth mentioning that during his tenure at Proya, Jiang Ligan led the research and development team in creating several popular products, including bubble face masks and the “Morning C, Evening A” series. These products played a pivotal role in propelling Proya to its position as the leading Chinese cosmetics brand. Even today, the “Morning C, Evening A” series remains one of Proya’s flagship products, contributing significantly to the company’s performance, as highlighted in multiple financial reports.
Due to his deep involvement and witness of Proya’s journey from a startup to a top-listed cosmetics company in China, Jiang Ligan’s industry reputation has continuously soared. As a renowned research and development engineer within the industry, he also holds positions such as a member of the Expert Committee of China Research Institute of Fragrance Flavor and Cosmetics, and a member of the National Fragrance Flavor Cosmetics Standardization Technical Committee. Additionally, Jiang Ligan has provided voluntary lectures to students in cosmetic-related majors at Zhejiang University and Beijing Technology and Business University, contributing to talent development in the industry.
It is worth noting that after leaving Proya, Jiang Ligan embarked on an entrepreneurial venture and established Hangzhou Ruiyan Futuristic Biotechnology Co., Ltd., a company specializing in providing formulations for cosmetics brands. However, Jiang Ligan informed Chaileedo today that “the company is no longer in operation.”
Jiang Ligan may contribute to creating “explosive products” for Pechoin.
It is well known that Pechoin, founded in 1931, has a history of 94 years and a deep brand foundation. The brand positions itself as “Technology and New Herb” and focuses on creating a unique Oriental efficacy skincare system. Pechoin has engaged in strategic collaborations with top global technology companies such as Merck Group from Germany and Ashland Group from the United States. Pechoin has introduced exclusive black technology ingredients, such as ProVTA and Polilight, which have received positive market feedback and are incorporated into products like the Pechoin Frame Your Face series. These achievements substantiate Pechoin’s strong research and development capabilities.
It is worth noting that as early as 2017, Pechoin was invited to become the “First Gold Member” of the International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists (IFSCC) in China. From 2018 to 2021, Pechoin published several academic papers covering various areas such as sun protection and anti-aging, making notable contributions to skin physiology research.

Furthermore, a seasoned industry professional familiar with Jiang Ligan mentioned to Chaileedo that Jiang Ligan’s appointment at Pechoin is highly suitable. “One is a traditional Chinese brand, and the other is a senior research and development professional who has previously built research and development teams for China’s leading beauty brand. The compatibility between the two is high.” He believes that amidst the current trend of hiring research and development personnel with experience in international companies such as P&G, L’Oréal, and Estée Lauder, Chinese brands have a greater need for talent with deep experience in Chinese brands.
