Invested by L Catterton, Luxury Skincare Brand Eighth Day Names New CEO

Eighth Day, the luxury skin care brand founded by skin cancer surgeon Dr. Antony Nakhla, appointed Savannah Sachs as its chief executive officer. With a wealth of experience in the beauty industry, Sachs most notably led the successful “clean-ical” skin care brand Tula until its acquisition by Procter & Gamble in 2022.

Sachs expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity to build and grow brands, particularly in the luxury market to media before. She acknowledged the importance of aligning with the needs and desires of today’s consumers while staying true to Dr. Nakhla’s vision. Her extensive experience in various stages of company growth, combined with her deep knowledge of the skin care industry, will undoubtedly be valuable assets as she takes the helm at Eighth Day.

Sachs emphasized the significance of the luxury segment within the beauty industry, highlighting the two essential elements necessary for a brand to succeed in this space: a strong clinical foundation and potent formulas. According to her, these are precisely the qualities that define Eighth Day.

When Dr. Nakhla initially founded Eighth Day, it featured a single hero product called The Regenerative Serum, which quickly gained popularity on Violet Grey. Since then, the brand has expanded its product range to include an eye cream, toner, and two moisturizers of varying weights. The key ingredient powering these products is peptide-rich plasma, a proprietary blend of amino acids, growth factors, and 24 bioidentical peptides, protected by a patent-pending formula.

In terms of distribution, Eighth Day has successfully entered prestigious retailers such as Net-a-porter, thanks in part to a minority investment from L Catterton. Additionally, the brand has established partnerships with renowned names like Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, and Nordstrom.

Sachs expressed her excitement about the future of Eighth Day, seeing endless possibilities for growth and expansion. She emphasized the importance of investing in brand building and awareness, as well as continuing to innovate their product offerings. Building a strong and dedicated team will be crucial to achieving these goals. Meanwhile, Dr. Nakhla will shift his focus to product development, as his passion lies in scientific research and innovation. Recognizing his expertise as a physician, he believes this transition will allow him to contribute in the area where he excels.
