Recently, Kylie Jenner is once again under fire as social media users accuse the makeup mogul of stealing from other brands for her Kylie Cosmetics line. On Tuesday, the 26-year-old star of “The Kardashians” unveiled her latest product launch on Instagram, sharing a sultry shoot where she modeled a skin-colored bandeau top, exposing her stomach, and holding her new Skin Tint Blurring Elixir. She captioned the post: “My skin tint blurring elixir is now available at @ultabeauty stores nationwide. 24 shades of our weightless formula that looks and feels like skin and lasts all day. I hope you guys love.”
While many fans expressed their excitement and admiration for the new product, others quickly pointed out the similarities to products from competing brands, accusing Jenner of “stealing” ideas. One fan commented, “Constantly stealing ideas from other brands and putting it in your own little packaging,” while another echoed, “Thank you for speaking up! A lot of people don’t know that the Kardashians steal other brands’ intellectual property.”
While it’s not clear exactly which brand these users are referencing, several brands have similar products with a similar design including Lisa Eldridge, Fenty by Rihanna and Michael Truth.
This isn’t the first time Jenner has faced such allegations. She was recently accused of copying Hailey Bieber’s company Rhodes’ lip product and has a history of being called out for imitating lesser-known artists.
In 2017, many fans noted a striking resemblance between Kylie Cosmetics’ holiday campaign and a photo by makeup artist Vlada Haggarty, who addressed the issue on Instagram, saying, “Really @kyliecosmetics? Haven’t you gotten enough ‘inspiration’ from me already?”
Additionally, Jenner’s clothing line Khy has faced plagiarism accusations. Australian brand Johansen and designer Betsy Johnson have both claimed that Jenner copied their concepts. Johnson shared on Instagram, “We emailed Kylie and all her team @products.ltd concept and language and a line sheet 6 MONTHS AGO,” adding sarcastically, “INTERESTING CONCEPT KYLIE:… INTERESTING. Thanks for the co-sign … F— your support.”
