Today (November 20th), LG Household & Health Care announced the launch of a new brand called “Ugly Lovely,” describing it as a “conscious” beauty brand. It is reported that the products of this brand are made from upgraded and transformed agricultural byproducts that are flawed or unattractive in appearance.
LG Household & Health Care stated that agricultural products with scratches or slight dents in their shape are referred to as “ugly agricultural products.” These products tend to have poor market demand, but their taste and nutritional content are not compromised. Recently, these agricultural products have gained popularity among consumers due to their competitive prices and unique appearance, resulting in increased sales. The company noticed this phenomenon and discovered their new value by extracting ingredients from these “ugly” agricultural products for use in cosmetics.
The Ugly Lovely brand has launched five products, including two water wash-off masks, one sleeping mask, and two sheet masks, priced between 3,000 and 28,000 Korean won. LG Household & Health Care stated that all the ingredients in these five products have a natural derivative index exceeding 90% and have been certified as vegan by a Korean vegan certification agency.
A representative of the Ugly Lovely brand stated, “Ugly Lovely is a ‘conscious’ beauty brand with a relaxed and humorous atmosphere, centered around the story of using flawed agricultural byproducts as cosmetic ingredients. We plan to expand the product range to skincare, lip care, and hand care, cultivating it as a brand that shares the same taste and philosophy with our customers.”
