Vichy Makes Its First Entry into the U.S. Market

Vichy Dercos, the dermatologist-recommended anti-dandruff brand in Europe, has officially made its debut in the United States. Available exclusively through the Amazon Premium Beauty store, customers can now shop the collection at Amazon.

Vichy Dercos was created in 1964 with the ambition to combine dermatological skin expertise with a knowledge of hair cosmetics. Vichy was aquired by L’Oreal in 1955. It belonged to L’Oréal Dermatological Beauty right now.

According to Vichy, with one in five Americans experiencing dandruff and only 40% currently using dandruff-specific products, Vichy Dercos aims to meet the needs of the remaining 60%. Powered by Micronized Selenium Sulfide, the Dercos Anti-Dandruff Shampoo targets dandruff at its source while integrating skin-soothing ingredients like niacinamide and glycerin to hydrate and comfort the scalp.

“Our mission with Dercos is to break the stigma around dandruff and promote healthier hair and scalp for everyone,” says Minh-Dan Tran, Senior Vice President – Head of Brand for Vichy Dercos. “After years of success globally, we are excited to introduce the range to U.S. consumers who deserve effective solutions that also leave hair soft, shiny, and manageable.”

Dr. Uchenna Okereke, a board-certified dermatologist and Vichy Advisory Board Member, highlights the importance of this launch: “Many of my patients are dissatisfied with their current dandruff shampoos because of how they make their hair feel. Vichy Dercos changes that narrative with proven science and a commitment to cosmetic elegance.”

According to L’Oréal’s latest financial results, first-half sales at L’Oréal Dermatological Beauty, of which Vichy is a part, were up 16.4 per cent year-on-year to €3.79 billion. Vichy maintained its double-digit growth rate thanks to the success of its Dercos hair care franchise.
