Today, CHAILEEDO has learned that Aesop, the Australian skincare brand, will officially open its first store in Guangzhou on March 15th at Dongshankou. Prior to this, Aesop’s first store in Chengdu was opened on January 17th at TaiKoo Li. According to Aesop’s official website, including the Guangzhou Dongshankou store, the brand currently has 9 stores in mainland China.
It’s worth noting that in April 2023, L’Oréal Group announced the acquisition of Aesop from Natura & Co for $2.53 billion. Prior to this acquisition, Aesop had a slow expansion in the Chinese market. It entered China through e-commerce channels in 2018 but opened its first offline store only in November 2022. Among the 9 Aesop stores in China, 4 have been opened since December 2023. Additionally, Aesop has established a presence in Suzhou’s Renheng Warehouse Street.
Cyril Chapuy, President of L’Oréal Group’s Luxe Division, stated during a financial report meeting that Aesop achieved double-digit growth in the quarter when it officially joined the L’Oréal Group. Furthermore, Aesop’s body care products are currently performing well, and there is still significant room for expansion in other categories, particularly skincare and fragrance, which are the strengths of the Luxe Division.
