Recently, it has been reported that the South African National Consumer Commission (NCC) has recalled a L’Oréal shampoo product exported to Kenya and other countries.
According to the NCC’s statement, L’Oréal discovered bacteria in a 50ml single-use neutralizing shampoo from the Dark & Lovely product line during its routine quality control inspections. The NCC has instructed all consumers to stop using this product and return it to the point of sale for a full refund.
Additionally, the NCC warned that continued use of the product could cause scalp irritation, especially for individuals with weaker immune systems.
Public information shows that Dark & Lovely is a product line under the SoftSheen-Carson brand, which targets African women. In 1998, the owner of the Soft Sheen brand sold it to L’Oréal. In 2000, L’Oréal acquired the hair care products manufacturer Carson Products and merged the two companies into SoftSheen-Carson.
