Yesterday, Beiersdorf, a renowned consumer goods manufacturer, announced that it is set to invest over 200 million euros in a state-of-the-art logistics center in Leipzig. It will see the completion and commissioning of the facility by 2027. The company plans to create around 450 new jobs through this project.
Occupying a 12.5-hectare site, the new logistics center will serve as a central hub for Beiersdorf’s European operations. Christian Haensch, Head of Germany for Beiersdorf, highlighted Leipzig’s strategic location for enhancing the company’s supply chain network and connecting with customers across Central Europe.
Burkhard Jung, Leipzig’s Lord Mayor, praised Beiersdorf’s ongoing success and their contribution to the local economy, emphasizing the project’s modern and climate-neutral approach, which will generate several hundred new jobs.
Recently, its new production center has been completed in northern Leipzig, which cost approximately 300 million euros. These two substantial projects underscore Beiersdorf’s strong commitment to Germany as a prime business location, marking the largest investment the company has ever made at a single site.
Aligned with its sustainability goals, Beiersdorf aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2025, compared to 2018 levels, and by 50% by 2032, ultimately achieving net-zero emissions by 2045. Key initiatives to support these targets include product transformation and incorporating photovoltaic modules, green roofs, and façades into the new logistics center.
