Brazilian beauty label Granado has embarked on a strategic mission to bolster its international sales. With existing footholds in Paris, London, Lisbon, and Brussels, Granado has recently debuted its inaugural store on New York City’s Madison Avenue.
Granado achieving a milestone in 2023, the company recorded a remarkable turnover of BRL 1.4 billion (approximately 333 million euros or USD 360 million), marking an almost 35% surge compared to 2022.
Granado, the oldest pharmacy in Brazil, was established in 1870 in Rio de Janeiro. Founded by José Antonio Coxito Granado, a Portuguese apothecary, the pharmacy specialized in producing remedies, cosmetics, and various products derived from plants, herbs, and native flowers found in Teresópolis.
In 2013, Granado expanded its presence in the European market after receiving an invitation from the renowned Parisian department store, Le Bon Marche Rive Gauche. This opportunity led to the establishment of Granado France, the company’s first subsidiary in Europe.
In 2016, Granado received an investment from Puig, a prominent Spanish beauty and fashion conglomerate, acquiring a minority stake in the company. Just a few months later, in 2017, Granado expanded its presence by opening its inaugural store in Lisbon, Portugal. The company now boasts a retail presence of 93 stores across Brazil, including four dedicated Phebo outlets, as well as seven international locations.
