Coty, the renowned beauty company, has recently announced the renewal of two long-standing mass-market fragrance licenses, solidifying its commitment to these successful partnerships.
The first license agreement is with Dutch fashion brand Mexx, which initially commenced in 2016 and has now been extended for a minimum of 25 years. This extension encompasses all Mexx fragrances and colognes, ensuring their continued presence in the market.
Mexx’s fragrance line made its debut in 2000, introducing Mexx Man and Mexx Woman to the world. Over time, it has evolved into one of Germany’s top four fragrance brands. In 2023, Mexx unveiled a collection of limited-edition fragrances, including the captivating Summer Bliss and the sophisticated Black & Gold. These new offerings further solidified Mexx’s appeal to fragrance enthusiasts.
Sue Nabi, Coty’s chief executive officer, expressed her delight at strengthening the partnership with Mexx, emphasizing the long-term extension as a means to accelerate the brand’s momentum. Coty aims to fuel Mexx’s expansion plans into dynamic new markets and categories, ensuring Mexx can continue to captivate consumers with its distinctive fragrances.
In addition to the renewal with Mexx, Coty has also extended its license with German underwear and fragrances brand Bruno Banani for over 20 years. Since winning the license in 2015, Coty has successfully positioned Bruno Banani as Germany’s leading fragrance brand, showcasing iconic products like Man and Woman. Coty’s introduction of innovative fragrance creations, such as Loyal Man and Magnetic Woman, along with highly successful body care lines, has propelled Bruno Banani into one of the foremost consumer beauty brands in Germany, Benelux, and Eastern Europe.
Coty’s extensive fragrance portfolio includes other notable mass-market licenses such as Jovan, David Beckham, Vera Wang, and Nautica. Moreover, in the higher-end prestige segment, Coty holds licenses for esteemed brands like Gucci, Burberry, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, Marc Jacobs, Chloé, Davidoff, and Jil Sander, among others. This diverse range of licenses demonstrates Coty’s expertise in catering to a wide range of consumer preferences and ensuring its presence across various market segments.
