Yesterday, according to WWD, Dior opened its first U.S. fragrance and beauty boutique in New York’s SoHo, a decision that underscores the brand’s commitment to brick-and-mortar retail amidst a competitive beauty market. The boutique, set to open on Wednesday, marks the beginning of a series of expansions that will include locations in Canada and key markets across California and Florida.
Charlotte Holman Ros, president of North America for Christian Dior Parfums, emphasized the brand’s strategic focus on increasing desirability and securing leadership in luxury beauty. “Our North Star is brand desirability,” she stated, outlining a vision to position Dior as the leading luxury fashion beauty house in the U.S. “We’re on a journey to transform our retail network, which is at the heart of that strategy.”
The store features a range of high-end products, including the exclusive Rouge Premiere lipstick priced at $530 and the L’Or de Vie skincare line starting at $680. A highlight in the front window is La Collection Privée, with fragrances beginning at $330. Seasonal offerings like the Dior Trunk of Dreams Limited Edition Advent Calendar will retail for $4,400, while popular items like Dior Sauvage and the viral Lip Glow Oil will also be available.
This new boutique is strategically located at 109 Greene Street, adjacent to Dior’s existing fashion boutiques and near other luxury brands, creating a synergistic environment that allows customers to explore the full spectrum of Dior offerings. Holman Ros noted the interconnectedness of perfumery and couture within the brand’s heritage: “Dior always considered himself a perfumer as much as a couturier.”
Dior’s expansion comes at a time when the beauty segment has shown resilience, posting a 3% gain for LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, despite a decline in fashion and leather goods. Drawing inspiration from more mature beauty markets like the Middle East and China, Dior plans to enhance its client services with tailored experiences such as makeup touch-ups and personalized fragrance consultations.
