Yesterday, it was reported that former Estée Lauder executive Thia Breen passed away at home on Friday night due to complications from cancer at the age of 73.
It is known that after graduating from university, Thia Breen joined the training team of Dayton-Hudson Department Store and was hired by Estée Lauder as a Clinique customer manager in 1977. In 2003, she returned to the retail industry, becoming the Senior Vice President of Cosmetics and Fragrances at Federated Department Stores, which includes Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s. She rejoined Estée Lauder in 2005 as President of the Estée Lauder brand. In 2009, Breen was appointed President of Estée Lauder’s North American Group and retired in 2017.
According to Estée Lauder, Thia Breen played a crucial role in establishing the Clinique brand in North America and accelerated the growth of Clinique’s business in China during her tenure as President of Estée Lauder.
“Thia Breen was one of Estée Lauder’s finest executives,” Honorary Chairman Leonard A. Lauder said. “She always had a keen sense of industry trends, especially in our home market. She was an amazing person, and we will miss her dearly.”
