Recently, according to report, Frasers Group, led by retail tycoon Mike Ashley, is exploring a potential acquisition of Revolution Beauty, a struggling cosmetics company listed on the London Stock Exchange. Revolution Beauty recently announced its intention to seek a buyer amidst financial challenges, with Frasers Group showing interest in a takeover bid. This move could escalate tensions with Debenhams, where Frasers is a major shareholder.
Sources indicate that Frasers Group, known for its diverse retail portfolio including House of Fraser and Evans Cycles, has initiated discussions with Revolution Beauty regarding a possible acquisition offer. While Frasers is considering the bid, no firm decision has been made yet.
Frasers Group plc, formerly known as Sports Direct International plc, is a British retail, sports, and intellectual property group, best known for owning the department store chain House of Fraser.
Revolution Beauty, which specializes in branded cosmetics, has faced significant market turbulence, reflected in its diminished market capitalization of approximately £20m, down more than 70% over the past year. The company has also dealt with accounting scrutiny and legal settlements, including disputes with former shareholders.
In response to its financial challenges, Revolution Beauty has appointed Iain McDonald, a seasoned figure in the City with ties to Debenhams, as chairman to navigate its sale process. Despite receiving a previous takeover approach, Revolution Beauty remains open to offers from potential suitors, facilitated by its advisors at Panmure Liberum.
