French Family-Owned Fragrance Company TechnicoFlor Appoints Second-Generation CEO

Yesterday, TechnicoFlor, the prestigious French, independent family-owned perfume house, appointed as Christopher Sabater, 33, takes over as President and CEO, effective January 2, 2025. He succeeds his father, François Patrick Sabater, who founded and developed the company 44 years ago.

It is reported that TechnicoFlor was founded in 1981 as a family business specializing in the production of fine fragrances, plant extracts, aromatic ingredients, and food flavors. Over the past 40 years, TechnicoFlor has collaborated with some well-known brands in the perfume and cosmetics industries, with its products sold in more than 70 countries across the Middle East, Asia, Western Europe, and Central Europe, generating nearly 70 million euros in revenue. It is also known that TechnicoFlor has established a subsidiary in Shanghai, China.

Christopher Sabater, a graduate in international trade from business school, first joined TechnicoFlor in 2015 during his final year of studies. He began his journey at the company in the Shanghai subsidiary and later expanded his expertise, managing the Middle East and Africa markets from the Dubai office for eight years. This experience has shaped him into a well-rounded leader ready to steer the company into its next phase of growth.

“My father and I have been working hand in hand for years. His innovative vision has always guided our strategic choices, and I am delighted to take over the reins of our family business with the same passion and commitment to continue writing our history,” says Christopher. “What’s more, I will do so alongside my brother, Jérémy Sabater, Perfumer, as we work together to continue the legacy.”

Under Christopher’s leadership, TechnicoFlor aims to double its turnover in the next five years. The company also plans to increase its production units from three to five, with new sites slated for India, the United States, and Latin America. His vision is to expand TechnicoFlor’s global presence while remaining true to the family’s heritage of craftsmanship and innovation.

François Patrick Sabater, although stepping down as CEO, will remain an integral part of TechnicoFlor’s future. He will continue to serve as a member of the Supervisory Board and will focus his energy on Holding API, where he will direct his attention to aromas and raw materials through various subsidiaries.
