Yesterday, Interparfums has strengthened its presence in the high-end fragrance market with the acquisition of luxury perfume house Goutal. The move underscores the company’s strategy to expand its portfolio in the prestige fragrance segment, leveraging Goutal’s heritage and strong growth potential.
As part of the deal, Interparfums has acquired all intellectual property rights related to Maison Goutal from Amorepacific Europe. However, Amorepacific will continue to operate the brand under a license agreement for a set period, with Interparfums taking over its development from 2026.
Founded in 1981 by Annick Goutal—described as a musician, model, and antique dealer—the brand has become renowned for its sophisticated compositions, which blend natural ingredients with innovative accords. Over the years, Goutal has changed ownership multiple times, first being acquired by Starwood Capital in 2005 and later by Amorepacific in 2011.
While the purchase price has not been disclosed, Interparfums highlighted that Goutal’s revenue has previously reached approximately EUR 10 to 12 million. CEO Philippe Benacin emphasized that this acquisition aligns with the company’s ambition to broaden its high-end fragrance offerings, citing the brand’s iconic fragrances such as L’Eau d’Hadrien and Petite Chérie as key assets. Notably, Camille Goutal, daughter of the brand’s founder, will remain involved in fragrance development to ensure continuity in the brand’s vision and values.
This acquisition follows Interparfums’ recent push into the high-end niche fragrance space, including the upcoming launch of its new brand, Solferino. The company, which oversees a portfolio of brands including Jimmy Choo, Montblanc, Lacoste, and Coach, continues to experience strong financial growth, reporting a 10% increase in net profit for 2024, reaching EUR 129.9 million with an operating margin exceeding 20%.
