Recently, Kolmar Korea announced it appointed prominent experts in the global cosmetics industry to its North American subsidiary to accelerate its global expansion. The company plans to build its second U.S. plant early next year and has made strategic appointments to strengthen its presence in the North American market. These appointments include a new head for North American operations and a Global Chief Commercial Officer (GCCO).
Additionally, Kolmar Korea has established a strategic framework that integrates production, sales, and R&D to better penetrate the local market, which includes forming an R&D team dedicated to North America.
Yongchul Hur, who has been named President and CEO of Kolmar Laboratories and Kolmar USA, brings extensive experience in the global ODM business, having previously driven significant growth in Kolmar’s Chinese operations. Philippe Warnery, the new GCCO, is an expert in the global cosmetics market with 25 years of experience, including roles as CEO of Intercos North America and General Manager at Estee Lauder. George Rivera, appointed as Chief Science Officer (CSO) of the North American subsidiary, has over 20 years of R&D experience at major cosmetics companies like L’Oreal USA. Inki Park, the new head of the R&D Center for North America, will focus on adapting core technologies from the Kolmar R&D Complex in South Korea to meet local market needs.
These strategic hires are expected to help Kolmar Korea maximize the operational capacity of its North American production facilities. The company aims to achieve $100 million in sales within the next five years by expanding its sales network in North, Central, and South America. With the increasing popularity of K-beauty in the U.S. market, Kolmar Korea plans to promote ODM sales that emphasize market accessibility and logistics efficiency for small and medium-sized Korean indie brands.
A representative of Kolmar Korea stated, “This appointment underscores our commitment to gaining new momentum in the North American market by placing industry experts at the forefront. Kolmar Korea will focus on fostering growth through the synergistic collaboration of sales, production, and R&D, and expanding its influence beyond North America to Europe.”
Kolmar Korea’s acquisition of Kolmar USA and Kolmar Canada in 2016 laid the foundation for its global expansion. In 2022, the company secured exclusive rights to the ‘Kolmar’ brand, allowing for unrestricted business operations in the U.S. and global markets. The recent opening of the Kolmar Innovation Center in New Jersey further supports the company’s strategic growth initiatives in North America.
