Yesterday, Procter & Gamble has announced a leadership transition with Chief Operating Officer Shailesh Jejurikar set to become the company’s next Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2026. He will succeed current CEO Jon Moeller, who will move into the role of executive chairman.
Moeller has led the consumer goods giant since 2021, steering the company through a dynamic period marked by global economic uncertainty and shifting consumer behaviors. His transition comes as a surprise, but P&G emphasized continuity in leadership with Jejurikar’s promotion.
Jejurikar brings over three decades of experience within P&G, having served in leadership positions across several business units, including Health & Beauty Care and P\&G Professional. Before becoming COO, he led the company’s Fabric & Home Care division, overseeing flagship brands such as Tide, Ariel, and Downy.
In addition to the CEO appointment, P&G’s board has nominated Jejurikar for election to its board of directors at the annual shareholder meeting in October 2025.
The leadership change comes as P&G grapples with rising input costs fueled by ongoing global trade tensions, which have led to higher product prices across its portfolio, including Pampers diapers and Head & Shoulders shampoo. The company recently flagged pressure on consumer spending, adding another layer of complexity to its global operations heading into 2026.
