Recently, the Guangdong Provincial Medical Administration held a routine press conference, stating that Guangdong currently has over 3,100 cosmetics manufacturing companies, accounting for approximately 56% of the national total in China. The total industrial output value of the cosmetics industry in the province is about 210 billion yuan ($29.4 billion), accounting for approximately 60% of the national total, ranking first in the country.
It is reported that as of the end of May, Guangdong enjoyed over 3,100 cosmetics manufacturing companies, accounting for approximately 56% of the national total. The province boasted more than 11,000 registered varieties of domestically produced special cosmetics, accounting for about 66% of the national total. The number of domestically produced general cosmetics filing cases is over 880,000, accounting for approximately 76% of the national total. Over 8,000 registered persons/filing persons in the province, accounting for 65% of the national total.
Lu Xia, Director of the Cosmetics Supervision Department of the Guangdong Provincial Medical Administration, said, “Guangdong Province is the largest cosmetics industry province in the country, with a large number of small and medium-sized manufacturing companies. The quality management levels of cosmetics production vary, and there is an urgent need to improve the overall quality management capabilities of cosmetics production.”
In addition, Lu Xia also stated that the Guangdong Provincial Medical Administration is actively exploring new initiatives to assist the quality improvement of cosmetics manufacturing companies in the province. They are innovatively conducting pilot projects at the provincial, municipal, and county levels to enhance the quality of cosmetics production. By identifying issues in the production quality management system of pilot companies, personalized solutions will be developed to enhance their production quality management capabilities.
