TikTok Shop UK has announced a historic milestone, achieving record-breaking sales during Black Friday (29 November), which the platform describes as its “biggest ever UK sales event to date.” This success signals a strong start to the holiday shopping season, with TikTok anticipating a bumper Christmas for its UK retail platform.
On Black Friday alone, TikTok Shop UK saw an extraordinary 179% year-on-year increase in revenue, accompanied by a 131% growth in the number of shoppers leveraging the platform for discounts from brands and creators. Among the top-performing retailers was Luxe Collective, a luxury resale platform, highlighting the diverse appeal of TikTok’s shopping ecosystem.
Central to this success was the popularity of Live shopping, an innovative feature that allows real-time interaction between sellers and shoppers. Over the Black Friday period (25 November–2 December), TikTok Shop UK hosted an average of over 6,000 Live shopping sessions daily, significantly driving engagement and sales.
Small and medium businesses (SMBs) played a pivotal role, accounting for over 95% of purchases made during the campaign. Key categories, including Beauty, Home & Living, and Fashion, emerged as the top sellers.
Jan Wilk, Head of Operations at TikTok Shop UK, emphasized the transformative nature of Live shopping, stating, “The incredible surge in sales during the Black Friday week highlights the transformative power of Live shopping, which brings the experience of interacting with sellers in real time, just like in-store shopping but from the comfort of home.”
