On May 20th, according to data released by Yiwu Customs in Zhejiang, the total import and export value of Yiwu City reached 201.06 billion yuan in the first four months of this year, representing a year-on-year increase of 22.0%. Among these, the import value of beauty, cosmetics, and personal care products was 2.96 billion yuan, up by 75.6%.
The data shows that from January to April, Yiwu’s export value was 176.38 billion yuan, an increase of 19.9% year-on-year; imports were 24.68 billion yuan, up by 39.5% year-on-year. The import and export values accounted for 12.3%, 14.7%, and 5.6% of the province’s total, respectively, with the shares increasing by 1.6, 1.7, and 1.2 percentage points, respectively.
By region, from January to April, Yiwu’s import and export value with Africa, Latin America, and ASEAN was 35.72 billion yuan, 32.28 billion yuan, and 20.91 billion yuan, respectively, with year-on-year increases of 19.0%, 34.9%, and 38.7%. The import and export value with India and Saudi Arabia was 10.70 billion yuan and 5.18 billion yuan, respectively, with year-on-year increases of 23.8% and 25.2%. The total import and export value with Belt and Road Initiative countries was 127.71 billion yuan, up by 26.5% year-on-year, accounting for 63.5% of Yiwu’s total import and export value during the same period.
In terms of trade methods, market procurement exports accounted for over 80%. Yiwu exported 142.99 billion yuan through market procurement trade, an increase of 28.1%, accounting for 81.1% of Yiwu’s total export value and contributing to a 29.4 percentage point increase in Yiwu’s export growth.
Additionally, in the first four months of this year, Yiwu imported consumer goods worth 14.55 billion yuan, an increase of 45.0%, accounting for 59.0% of the city’s total import value.
The report also pointed out that this year, Yiwu introduced the Several Policies to Further Promote High-Quality Economic Development, which includes 66 policy measures across 8 key areas, involving 6.904 billion yuan in fiscal funds. Moreover, Yiwu has continued to expand its efforts in attracting, organizing, and hosting exhibitions, having successfully held 17 exhibitions so far. It also encourages foreign trade enterprises to “go abroad in groups” to increase orders, organizing 8 groups comprising 412 foreign trade companies to participate in overseas exhibitions in the first quarter.
