Recently, Groupe Rocher, the parent company of Yves Rocher, has officially sold its production site in Ploërmel, France, marking the end of an era for a facility that has been integral to the company since 1982. The new owner, Arcade Beauty, is set to continue manufacturing fragrances for Groupe Rocher for a minimum of five years, ensuring a seamless transition in production.
The sale agreement, reached after extensive negotiations, includes commitments to the site’s development, safeguarding the future of the workforce as all teams currently employed at Ploërmel will be integrated into Arcade Beauty. Additionally, the new ownership will ramp up production, with plans to introduce an extra 10 million units of fragrance over the next two years.
Jean-David Schwartz, CEO of Groupe Rocher, expressed optimism about the transaction, stating, “The signing of this agreement marks the beginning of a happy new chapter for the Ploërmel site. I would like to thank all the teams from this emblematic site: they have made and continue to make the Group proud. I’m also delighted to be handing it over to Arcade Beauty, in whom I have complete confidence to continue developing this site with its exceptional human and industrial expertise.” The agreement is designed to ensure a bright future for the plant and its employees.
Groupe Rocher, known for its diverse portfolio of seven brands—including Yves Rocher, Arbonne, and Petit Bateau—has been undergoing strategic changes, including the recent sale of its Flormar brand to a consortium of Turkish investors. As the company continues to evolve, the Ploërmel site remains a testament to its longstanding commitment to quality and innovation in the fragrance industry.
Arcade Beauty was founded in 1902 and is headquartered in New York, USA. Its business primarily consists of three parts: retail (developing products for the beauty and retail industries); sampling (creating samples for beauty and health brands); and digital (utilizing data sampling to drive brand digital marketing).
After a century of development, Arcade Beauty currently holds a competitive advantage in the beauty sample supply chain and boasts over 350 patents, with 11 factories located around the world (recently selling its Suzhou factory to Procter & Gamble). The company has established partnerships with over 400 global beauty brands, including major international players like L’Oréal, LVMH, Coty, and Procter & Gamble.
