Among the Chinese brands, Mageline has published the most papers in the IFSCC
IFSCC, short for “International Federation Of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists,” is an international cooperative organization composed of cosmetic technologists from various countries. It is acclaimed by researchers as the “Nobel Prize” of the cosmetics industry and is one of the highest-level academic conferences in the international cosmetics field. IFSCC Benefactors Day is an exchange event hosted by China-SCC and co-organized by IFSCC and IFSCC China Benefactors.
The first IFSCC Benefactors Day was held in Guangzhou in July 2017, inviting the IFSCC president and researchers from the United States, Italy, Brazil, and South Korea to give technical presentations on different topics. The second IFSCC Benefactors Day was held in Guangzhou in June 2018, with seven of the current 11 global chairpersons of IFSCC attending the event.
The third IFSCC Benefactors Day made its debut in Shanghai and aimed to provide international cosmetic technology exchange opportunities for industry researchers to jointly promote the technological development of the cosmetics industry.
It is reported that all 12 current chairpersons of IFSCC gathered in Shanghai for this edition of IFSCC Benefactors Day and had face-to-face exchanges and discussions with cosmetic scientists from multiple countries. During the event, five current IFSCC chairpersons representing the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, North America, and Latin America provided in-depth explanations on the current technological hotspots of the industry.
In addition, a selection of excellent technical articles published by Chinese scientists at the 2023 IFSCC Global Cosmetic Science Conference in Barcelona, Spain, was showcased at the event. Mr. Yang Fan, Chief Research and Development Officer of Mageline, was invited to share the technical achievements of “Skin Barrier and Anti-Aging: Skin Microecology Multi-omics Study.”
Notably, Mageline also received an honorary award from IFSCC. The reason for the award is that from 2020 to 2023, Mageline, as a high-end Chinese beauty and skincare brand, successfully took the stage at the IFSCC conference every year. Furthermore, during these four years, Mageline published a total of 24 papers, making it the Chinese brand with the highest number of publications among IFSCC members. At the IFSCC award ceremony, Dr. Tony Gough, former president of IFSCC, and Mr. Zheng Weidong, chairman of China-SCC, personally presented the honorary award to Mageline. Mr. Guo Yang, Vice President of Mageline’s Supply Chain, attended the event and accepted the honor on behalf of Mageline.

It is worth mentioning that among numerous domestic brands, only Mageline and Pechoin have received this prestigious recognition. This award not only acknowledges Mageline’s outstanding contributions but also demonstrates its strong influence in the international cosmetics field, providing significant encouragement and inspiration for its future development.
This significant recognition from IFSCC reflects that Mageline’s research strength has gained recognition from the international academic community in the cosmetics industry.
The patented ingredient “MAIFUYIN” escorts product efficacy
In fact, Mageline’s connection with IFSCC can be traced back to 2019 when it was invited to become a gold member of IFSCC in July of that year. As of now, Mageline has presented 29 scientific research achievements at IFSCC, leading the way among domestic beauty and cosmetics brands. Among them, in October 2020, Mageline published nine papers and gave a special lecture at the IFSCC conference, delving into in-depth research in areas such as plant stem cells, microbial fermentation, and polymerization.
Taking the keynote speech given by Yang Fan at this year’s exchange meeting as an example, it demonstrates Mageline’s explorations in scientific research. It is reported that during this IFSCC Benefactors Event, Yang Fan provided a detailed introduction to the research achievements of Mageline’s “Skin Barrier and Anti-Aging: Skin Microecology Multi-omics Study.”

Yang Fan explained that Mageline’s research on skin microecology began in early 2022. By conducting multi-omics analysis on 83 healthy Chinese individuals, they elucidated the relationship between the skin microecology metagenome and skin metabolites and clinical parameters. In this study, Mageline found significant differences in the skin microecology metabolites and microbial communities between young and elderly Asians. Many skin metabolites closely related to skin barrier function involve metabolic pathways such as the TCA cycle and α-KG. “The results of the multi-omics study have shown that the use of cosmetics, especially products containing yeast extract, may significantly improve overall skin condition. This improvement may be achieved through the regulation of skin metabolites and the microbiome. Mageline’s core technological ingredient, MAIFUYIN, promotes the return of skin microbiota to a youthful state by enhancing TCA cycle efficiency, effectively improving skin barrier function and combating aging.”
Regarding the research process of MAIFUYIN, Yang Fan stated that this ingredient is the result of years of exploration and experimentation by Mageline’s research and development team. They selected one extraordinary strain from a thousand types of yeast, precisely fermented it with high-quality rice at 40 degrees north latitude, and then subjected the fermentation filtrate to a series of stringent production processes such as concentration, sterilization, and filtration. Finally, it became an anti-aging ingredient suitable for various skin types.

He further explained, “Research has shown that MAIFUYIN possesses powerful repair capabilities, primarily due to its inclusion of more than 90 natural skin-nourishing ingredients, including Alpha-KG. It can enhance the production rate of cellular energy factor ATP, thereby increasing the vitality of skin cells and aiding in the rapid absorption of nutrients.”
It is reported that articles on the research of MAIFUYIN have been published in research journals such as JCD and JCS, proving its effectiveness in repairing the skin barrier, promoting keratinocyte proliferation, and delaying both intrinsic and extrinsic aging. It’s worth noting that MAIFUYIN has also obtained an invention patent with the title “A Skin Topical Composition for Simultaneously Combating Intrinsic and Extrinsic Aging,” with the patent number ZL 2022 1 0819003.2.
It is worth mentioning that two products from Mageline’s popular “Bare-faced Trilogy,” Mageline Essence Balancing Water and Mageline Lady Beauty Cream, both contain the MAIFUYIN ingredient. Among them, Mageline Essence Balancing Water contains 94.4% high-purity MAIFUYIN, listed as the first ingredient on the ingredient list. The Mageline Lady Beauty Cream is a skincare cream that can replace foundation and BB cream. It contains rare ingredients such as MAIFUYIN, alpha-arbutin, and ginseng root extract, delivering effects of refined pores and firmness against wrinkles. Additionally, Mageline Youth Concentrated Essence is formulated with concentrated yeast extract, peptide complex, niacinamide, and other ingredients, effectively relieving skin dullness, dryness, and improving sagging and fine lines.
These three star products complement each other when used together. It’s worth mentioning that Mageline Essence Balancing Water, as a popular product of Mageline, has maintained its position as the number one best-selling champion water for nearly 10 years and has received recommendations from over a hundred influential KOLs and celebrities who have personally used it.
Pioneer of Technological Anti-Aging
Research and development capabilities form the foundation of product excellence. In recent years, both domestic and international beauty brands have embarked on a research and development competition. Furthermore, “anti-aging” has become an essential skincare need based on market insights. According to Qingyan Intelligence data, the anti-aging market has witnessed an average annual growth rate of over 10% from 2017 to 2022. By extrapolation, it is expected that the skincare anti-aging market in China will reach 154 billion yuan in 2024. As a result, the industry has ignited a trend of “technological anti-aging.”
Mageline is at the forefront of this trend. It is reported that Mageline has established a comprehensive research system encompassing “skin science, biological science, and behavioral science” at the fundamental research stage, delving into the underlying technological logic of effective skincare.
Moreover, as early as 2019, Mageline invested 200 million yuan to establish a 2,200-square-meter Asia-Pacific research center in Wuhan Optics Valley. The research center is equipped with basic laboratories such as safety evaluation, fragrance, microbiology, as well as skincare, raw materials, packaging, washing, and cosmetics development application laboratories, employing more than 60 research and development engineers. By continuously enhancing research and development capabilities, Mageline has created its brand uniqueness and established barriers in product technology.
In terms of product manufacturing, Mageline established an independent production factory in Yichang, Hubei, as early as 2016. In 2018, the second phase of the factory, an automated workshop, went into operation. Currently, the factory covers an area of over 30,000 square meters with 18 production lines. The construction of this self-owned factory provides an additional guarantee for Mageline’s high-quality product quality.
Relying on its strong research and development capabilities and independent production capacity, Mageline has created one hit product after another.
It is well-known that the entry requirements for IFSCC are stringent, requiring two conditions: leading market strength and the ability to contribute to the promotion and advancement of cosmetics technology. Under these strict standards, the list of IFSCC members includes international cosmetic giants such as Estée Lauder and L’Oréal. As a gold member of IFSCC, Mageline’s membership signifies the gradual enhancement of its research and technological strength and the emergence of Chinese beauty brands on the global stage.
Today, receiving this honor on the international platform known as the “Nobel Prize of the Cosmetics Industry” fully showcases Mageline’s forward-thinking contributions to advancing technology and fostering innovative development in the industry.
