Kosé America, a subsidiary of Tokyo-based Kosé Corp., has appointed Chinae Kim as its first vice president.
In her new role, Kim will be responsible for leading sales and marketing efforts in North America for the company. Kosé America’s portfolio includes renowned brands such as Decorté, Sekkisei, and the color cosmetics brand Addiction Tokyo, which made its debut in the U.S. market last fall through Bloomingdale’s.
Kim brings a wealth of experience to her new position, having previously led marketing initiatives for Sulwhasoo and other Amorepacific brands at Amorepacific U.S. She also oversaw the expansions of Laneige into the U.S. and Canada in 2014 and 2015, respectively, during her tenure. Prior to joining Amorepacific, Kim held a leadership role in global travel retail marketing at The Estée Lauder Companies.
Reporting directly to Takayuki Morimatsu, CEO of Kosé America, Kim’s main priorities will include enhancing U.S. consumer loyalty and promoting the Japanese approach to wellness and beauty. Morimatsu expressed excitement about Kim joining the company and stated that her extensive experience will contribute to strengthening brand relevance across all channels and driving the brands’ growth.
In H1 2023, Kose recorded net sales of ¥144.2 billion ($1 billion), representing a significant year-on-year increase of ¥13.6 billion ($94.9 million) or 10.5%.
